UCGAL Open Meeting on REF 2021
Monday 17th December 2018; 2:00pm to 4:30pm
University of Birmingham
We will welcome the chairs of four sub-panels for REF 2021 as speakers at this meeting. We look forward to an informative discussion and an opportunity to get clarification on issues relating to Linguistics in the REF.
If you are a member of any one of the organisations affiliated to UCGAL, you are invited to attend. Questions/comments can be put on the day, and we also encourage people to send questions in advance to Susan Hunston ([email protected]).
Attendance at the meeting is free of charge, but it would be helpful if people could register in advance at the University of Birmingham online shop, available here: https://shop.bham.ac.uk/conferences-and-events/college-of-arts-law/school-of-english-drama-american-canadian-studies/ucgal-ref2021-open-meeting.

Our speakers:
Professor Charles Forsdick (sub-panel: Modern Languages & Linguistics)
Professor Susan Hodgett (sub-panel: Area Studies)
Professor David James (sub-panel: Education)
Professor Greg Walker (sub-panel: English Language & Literature)

The venue (please note: CHANGE OF VENUE):
The meeting will take place in room UG09 in the (Murray) Learning Centre on the Edgbaston campus of the University of Birmingham. This is building R28 on the campus map. The map and other directions can be found here: https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/contact/directions/index.aspx
Getting to the venue by train: change at New Street Station and take a local train towards Redditch or Bromsgrove, alighting at the station called ‘University’. (Tickets to University can be purchased at your starting point or at New Street.) Trains run several times each hour and the journey takes 10 minutes. When you leave the University station, turn left. Where the vehicular road and a pedestrian route diverge, bear right to take the pedestrian route. The Learning Centre is on your left.
