Doctoral postgraduate bursary
The association for French Langauge Studies invites applications for doctoral postgraduate awards on a regular basis. The awards are primarily designed to facilitate specific avtivities
(e.g. conference or research workshop attendance, documentation). In accordance with the aims of the Association, Their objective is to support doctoral research into theoretical or applied linguistic research in French, and are intended for Phd students in the writing-up stage of their thesis, i.e in the period after three years of full time registration or equivalent.

Prizes for best student papers
There are prizes awarded to the three best student presentations in the annual conference. The first prize is £300 and the second and third prize £100.
General support
Funding can be requested by all AFLS members looking to organize a workshop, whether in Great Britain (AFLS is originally a British association) or abroad. AFLS workshop grants do not generally exceed £250. Link:

Martin Burr Grants
The Society invites applications for small amounts of funding (usually up to a maximum of £500) to support any form of activity which brings together language and history and allows them to be enjoyed by a non-academic audience. Vivien Law prize

The RH Robins Prize
The 9th RH Robins Prize was awarded to Jade Jørgen Sandstedt (Edinburgh) for a paper entitled ‘Transparency and blocking in Old Norwegian height harmony’, which will be published in TPS later this year. The Society now accepts submissions for the 10th RH Robins Prize; the deadline is 1 November 2018: http://www.philsoc.org.uk/prize.asp.
Scholarships and funding
The Society has awarded six Masters’ Bursaries in 2017; the names of recipients are, however, not yet public.
